WBO Champions Cleverly, Abraham next fights are set

By Corey Quincy

Two WBO titleholders, Hard hitting German Arthur Abraham and Nathan Cleverly solidified they're next title fights today. Here is our combined story on both.

Welsh WBO Light Heavyweight Champion Nathan Cleverly ( 24-0-0 ) will face undefeated American fellow can-kicker Ryan Coyne ( 21-0-0 ) on the big November 10th Showtime Boxing Quadrupleheader. Both men have over 20 victories and as said before both have fought extremely weak opposition over these contests. Hense why I consider them " Can Kickers ".

Cleverly, Age 25 has the WBO Light Heavyweight title. He has some defenses against contenders like Karo Murat,Tommy Karpency and most notably hard hitting Englishman Tony Bellew who almost defeated him but Coyne is arguably one of his toughest opponents yet. A solid step up for both, Coyne mostly seeing he is still recognized by most observers as a prospect and not at world level yet.

I am not sure how they chose Coyne for this fight. Only select people have even actually heard of him and he has never fought a guy in the top 20 but this is boxing what can I say about it. Cleverly needs to get a win here and face a larger fight if he wants as quoted to " impress American fans ". Guys like Bernard Hopkins, Chad Dawson live in the United States and are well known here. But even a win to a top name from abroad like Spanish boxer Gabriel Campillo and Beibut Shumenov would gain my respect to him as a world class fighter and champion. And with his great boxing skills and awkward physical build a win is very possible for him against these name fighters.

Seeing British Promoter Frank Warren promotes Cleverly, who owns boxing network Boxnation which has a deal with this events promoter Oscar De La Hoya of Golden Boy Promotions it is safe to say you British fans will tune into Boxnation to see it. American fans over here can watch on Showtime along with three other big fights, Moreno-Mares, Angulo-Cesarez, and Santa Cruz-TBA. Be sure to tune in to the fight.

I am sure after hearing that, You are hoping the other title fight with " King " Arthur Abraham is a lot better, Boxing needs redemption now! Right No, Sorry. Arthur Abraham will face a middleweight, Mehdi Boaulda. A man who fights regionally in France but looses when he makes the slightest step above that. He was most notably beaten up and finished easily by Danish Star Mikkel Kessler a couple fights ago, and a young and green Gennady Golovkin dominated him a few years before. It is clear to everyone that he can only beat regional fighters, His best win is likely to Sergei Melis who barely anyone knows.

At age 32, Arthur Abraham ( 35-3-0 ) is climbing his way up the rankings. Beating WBO titleholder Robert Stieglitz, Polish Boxer Piotr Wilkzewski and Argentine Prospect Pablo Farias in his last 3. Boaudla is a useless opponent undeniably. A massive step down from Abraham, or even Piotr. But it is what it is. Knowing this is one of the final shots he will get at a big name and world class fame expect Mehdi Boaudla to give whatever it is that he does have on this December 15th fight in Bayern, Germany. Although expect " AA " to be a reasonable favorite come fight night.

Tickets, Official announcement from the event promoter, Sauerland and Undercard info all COMING SOON! Follow Boxing Legends for updates on the event from our Facebook and Twitter.
